STORYTIME: CAN A ROCK GROW?

Join us at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, for a special story time with Audrey Sauble featuring Can a Rock Grow? Discover how rocks form, change, erode, and sometimes break apart in an instant. This fun, fact-filled picture book introduces young learners to the rock cycle and the many different kinds of rocks found in our world. This book is recommended for children ages 4-8 years old.
Free for museum members; general admission pricing applies for nonmembers. Books will be for sale in our Museum Store.
GARAGE SALE

Rockhounds, collectors, and makers—don’t miss this one! The Rice Museum’s annual Garage Sale is packed with geological treasures ready for new homes.
Shop tables full of lapidary rough, minerals, and rocks—perfect for cutting, polishing, or adding to your collection.
Unearth unique specimens and hidden gems donated by local collectors and friends of the museum.
Enjoy a fun, community atmosphere while supporting the museum’s mission to inspire curiosity about Earth’s natural wonders.
Come early for the best selection—and don’t forget, museum members get first pick!

DINO DAY OF PLAY

DINO PLAY DAY is part of the Worldwide Day of Play, a celebration sponsored by the Association of Children's Museums and Nickelodeon. This special day is all about joyful learning through play—encouraging kids and families to get active, explore, and have fun together.
